Faux Broken China Christmas Ornaments with Polymer Clay

Faux Broken China Christmas Ornaments with Polymer Clay Pin Cover

If you've been with us for a while, you might remember our Broken China Necklace project a few years ago. We've decided to take that same creative technique and give it a twist, making charming ornaments that will add a personal and handmade touch to your Christmas tree. Plus, they make wonderful gifts for your friends and family.

We'll walk you through each step, from conditioning your clay to selecting unique designs using our Winter Adornment stamp. This technique is incredibly versatile, so whether you're passionate about holiday decorations or you love crafting your own jewelry, this tutorial is sure to spark your creativity.

For Finishing: We tried two techniques. First, we used a matte Modge Podge, this worked just fine and maintained the exact details we went in with. Second, we tried a Semi-Gloss Polyurethane spray sealer. This reactivated the alcohol ink just a little bit and gave it more of a “water-color” look, softening any sandpaper lines that may have appeared while sanding. Both worked well, but we ended up preferring the semi-gloss sealer because it looked more like actual china.
